In spring 2022, I was brought in to help pre-vis a new event space housed in a decommissioned and converted church.
The creators needed marketing and visuals to aid in booking The Palomar Event Space for the 2023 wedding season. These facilities are booked well in advance - but the construction was far from completed at the time of the 2022 bridal and wedding events which are crucial to the marketing of a space such as this.
The architectural firm was also behind schedule and had provided no useful renders or pre-visualizations of the space.
The initial street facade illustration was needed for various swag (printed tote bags, etc.) at the different events. This was drawn from several reference photos - specifically, a few pulled from Google street view. Nothing was available that matched a desirable "Hero shot" of the building, so the drawing is a composite.
The more detailed drawings of the interior and exterior garden space were more complex.
In both cases, I started with reference photos, and proceeded from there. I created 3D mock-ups to aid in perspective. The desire was for a more hand-made feel to the illustrations, and the budget didn't allow for a highly detailed, photo-realistic 3D rendering.
A much simpler interior illustration was needed for one of the restrooms.
Finally, the architectural firm did produce some 3D renders in the fall of 2022 - but they were undesirable in many ways so I was asked to make slight adjustments to those.
